Attitude

Why are there so many ways to show attitude? Attitude is in the eye of the beholder. Some people are under the misunderstanding of that it is of the senior person because that is who matters. In a military setting, that may true but some people forget some times that they are in the military. How can you do that? It is simple you let yourself think that the constitution still applies to you and that just basic human courtesy applies. That is all thrown bodily out the front door when you join the military. So attitude serves no useful purpose if you are expressing it then you have lost control of your "cool" for lack of better word. You know the person you are showing attitude to could give a rats ass about what you think. It is about your rep, also it diffuses stress. Because the stress is still there but you have done something about it. You have shown the other person that it upset you. You have to be careful with all aspects of your appearance in respect to attitude. You may wear your hat a certain way all your life and you go somewhere that signifies a gang member or only gang members wear it that way, so everyone assumes you are in a gang. Don't judge a book by the cover. This simple saying is important. It is the basis of undercover work and espionage world wide. You don't send a white female in a business suit with a skirt in to a Muslim bath house to gather intelligence or if you want her to come out unharmed. World wide we ignore this. It is the simplest way to get into a place, look like everyone else. If you look, talk, and walk like a local you must be a local. But you miss out on so much and you leave yourself extremely vulnerable if you do this. What goes hand and hand with this is stereotypes and racism. Both have you make a judgement before it is realistic to know the factors. But not all judgments are made based on those stereotypes. Sometimes those individuals are part of that stereotype. Bigotry and racism is different. I think unless you are naive, you are at least racist. In the world we live in and human nature is to classify everything. You can't even be just an American. You must have some heritage to classify which American are you. We no longer live in the melting pot. We live in an area where you can choose to go in the melting pot or you can choose to set your own little area up that you only let your own people in. We divide ourselves and then complain when we are different.
