Reality
Virtual reality is a simulation of reality. The movie "Inception" delves into the discussion of reality. Different religions have different views on what reality is. In the movie, they go into dream or coma states which can be linked together. They have devices to tell them they are in a dream state. So that they can delve in without the fear of knowing if they are in a dream or in reality. The main character loses his ability to tell when he is in a dream. My understanding of the movie is that they intend you to believe at the end of the movie that he has been in his dream the whole time and none of the movie took place in reality. I don't know which religion specifically says that this life is a dream. I could also be remembering cult believe systems also. The concept of what reality is a difficult one. It is different for each person. Reality is the quality or state of being real. But one needs to define real because quality and state are not being disputed. They are agreed upon constants in the definition. Real is of or relating to fixed, permanent, or immovable things (as lands or tenements). Also it is not artificial, fraudulent, or illusory. So a person's reality is defined by their perception and conclusions based on those conclusions until refuted by something. This is fixed and permanent as any building. But just like any building, a hurricane can wipe it off the face of earth with little evidence it was there. Artificial, fraudulent, or illusory are harder to prove. The people around them will say they are deluding themselves. Which is true. But as the building is unmovable by the lone man, the man with a bulldozer moves the building. That is why I defined the reality including the clause of until refuted by outside sources. Because a person just like society in general will believe things until they are proven otherwise changing reality. The world was flat until they realized that stars were spinning in a circle. It was proven more concretely later when they trans-versed the world, and even more when they went into space. This like so many things are based on conclusions of our perceptions. An individuals reality should also be treated with the same rules. It is unmovable with small things but with larger things it can shift drastically. There are individuals that their reality is not as fixed or based more on other people's perceptions and conclusions. These individuals doubt their own conclusions and perceptions. Sometimes it is because they do not match up to the society's definition of what is right. Or at least his perception of what he thinks society wants him to think. This defines his behavior and personality. The other option is that an individual has impacted him so significantly that it has warped his perception and he no longer feels it is correct. Both cases are not the best way to live life. It will take lots of inner review. They need to untangle the jumble between outside inputs and internal conclusions. This will be a difficult and winding journey.
